The short version
Your training progress stays on your phone. We do not upload it.
We show no ads and use no third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
We never sell your data and never share it for advertising.
Connecting The Ballroom is optional. It only lets BowlerU read your own locker (your bag, patterns, games, spares) so training reflects your real game.
Reminders are on-device notifications. Turn them off any time.
BowlerU ("the app", "we", "us") is a bowling lane-reaction trainer published by MunkinFactory as part of the BowlBrain suite. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. It applies to the BowlerU Android application.
1. Information stored on your device
Everything you do in BowlerU by default is stored locally on your device using the operating system's app storage. This includes:
your training progress — level, rating, streaks, career stats, shot history, and exam scores;
your settings and preferences — handedness, difficulty, reminder times, and toggles.
This data never leaves your device unless you take a specific action described below. We cannot see it, and there is no BowlerU account or login.
2. Connecting The Ballroom optional
BowlerU can optionally link to The Ballroom, the companion app in the BowlBrain suite where you keep your equipment and scores. Linking is entirely your choice and the app is fully usable without it.
How the link works
You generate a short-lived connect code in The Ballroom and enter it in BowlerU.
BowlerU exchanges that code for a secure access token, which is stored on your device.
Using that token, BowlerU reads your Ballroom locker — your ball arsenal, oil patterns, recent games, and spare-leave stats — over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, so drills and ball recommendations reflect your real game.
What this means for your data
The connection is read-only from BowlerU's side: the app pulls your data in; it does not write changes back to your Ballroom account.
The Ballroom is operated by the same developer (BowlBrain / MunkinFactory). Your Ballroom data is handled under The Ballroom's own privacy policy. We do not share it with unrelated third parties.
You can disconnect at any time in Setup › The Ballroom › Manage, which revokes the token on your device. Your on-device training progress is unaffected.
If you use "Try with sample data" instead of linking, BowlerU loads a built-in demo bag and demo patterns. No account, no network request, no personal data is involved.
3. Notifications
If you enable reminders, BowlerU schedules local notifications on your device to nudge you to practice. These are generated and delivered on-device — there is no push service and we do not collect a messaging or device token to send them. You can turn reminders off in the app or in your Android notification settings.
4. What we do not collect
No name, email, phone number, or address is required by or collected in BowlerU.
No location data.
No advertising identifiers, and no advertising or analytics SDKs.
No contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access.
5. How your data is protected
On-device data is protected by Android's standard app sandboxing.
The optional Ballroom connection uses encrypted HTTPS transport.
Because your progress lives on your device, uninstalling the app removes it.
6. Your choices and controls
Disconnect The Ballroom:Setup › The Ballroom › Manage › Disconnect revokes the stored token.
Delete your training data: clearing the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstalling, erases all local progress.
Stop reminders: turn off notifications in the app or in Android settings.
7. Children
BowlerU is a general-audience training tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be reflected in the app's store listing.
